Wheat sowing in the last week of May began the 2019 season, much favored by good soil moisture. Sowing continued seamlessly except in some plots with excessive moisture where wheat was planned to be planted on peanut but peanut harvest was delayed and ended only in late July.

Crop growing was good even though there were some events; all in all, the cycle was very positive.

Only yellow rust and roya attacked the crop. Some plots reported low to moderate incidence of green and yellow aphids.

August to September water stress and frost yellowed the leaves of susceptible materials. Mid October rains positively impacted wheat, especially because flowering was starting.

The departments of Tercero Arriba, Santa María and Capital were the most affected by low soil moisture. In general, the crop grew well, exception made of some plots. In General San Martín and Río Segundo departments, the situation was a little better. Yields were generally better than expected with much variation: 29 q/ha can be a proper average. Tercero Arriba, General San Martín and Río Segundo average yields ranged from 29 to 31 q/ha, with some plots reaching 60 q/ha. In Santa María and Capital, yields ranged from 22 to 25 q/ha.

This season grain quality presented different test weights and gluten content; grades in some areas were good but in others, only low-grade wheat was obtained.
